of chisels. These chisels, made by MHG, Stubai and Robert Sorby have mirror
polished blades and are made with the best available German Chrome Vanadium
or high speed steels hardened to a Rockwell hardness (Rc) of 59-61. This
level of hardness means they will retain their keen edge much longer than
ordinary chisels. The comfortable handles are made of tough European
hornbeam, boxwood or beechwood and some have steel reinforcement hoops at

MHG's bevel edged Carpenter's chisels are fitted with hornbeam Power Grip handles that are unparalleled in size and robustness. They are ideal for those big jobs that demand extra width and stoutness, without giving up the precision and blade quality.

The thick, square blades and stout European hornbeam handles are made to
withstand the heavy blows required to chop out mortises. As with the bench
chisels, the polished chrome-vanadium blades are hardened to an edge retaining
hardness of Rc 61. They have steel reinforcement hoops at both top and bottom
and are fitted with vibration deadening leather shock washers. The availability
of these chisels in true imperial (fractional) sizes makes these an especially
desirable addition to the tool chest. Available in light colored handle only.
